Reducing Carbon in the Landscape Sector: Progress towards solutions
In March 2024, the Landscape Institute and the British Association of Landscape Industries released a pivotal report on reducing carbon in landscape schemes and works. This session gives an update on their progress, focusing on their work to deliver integrated solutions on three key themes – project carbon assessment processes and tools; suppliers, data and materials; education programmes for landscape practitioners – and their future plans.
BIO
A landscape architect for around 30 years, Romy has spent half of that time working with hard landscape manufacturers in the UK and Europe. Two have led the way in environmental sustainability for many years and, through them, I’ve accrued expertise across paving, lighting, and street furniture in particular.
My practical knowledge of industrial design and prototyping, materials, manufacturing, packaging, and logistics has resulted in a deep understanding of the impact of the products commonly specified by landscape architects. My intention is to share this knowledge as broadly as possible to help others make better specification decisions.
