Giving Back: A Sustainable Approach
Giving Back’ reinforces what the SGD is majoring on and underlines its commitment to encourage biodiversity, lower the carbon footprint in the gardens it designs and creates by the use of upcycled and recycled materials. An awareness of conserving water together with the practicalities of runoff is increasingly important, while the inclusion of species that not only benefit the garden in which they are set, but also link into the wider landscape or urban setting enables a chain of rich and diverse habitats.
BIO
Professor David Stevens, FSGD, FCI Hort is one of the best known designers in the world. He originally trained as a landscape architect and formed his practice in 1972. 26 RHS Chelsea Flower Show medals, of which eleven have been gold, together with many International awards have ensured his success. He has written 21 books and his series ‘Gardens by Design’ for the BBC pioneered the subject on television.
