Driving Innovation: Shaking up the procurement process
Is the procurement process overdue an update? The new Procurement Act 2023, coming into effect in October, is arguably a step towards modernising public sector procurement and could be a game changer. What does the new legislation include and how could it prove beneficial? And are there other areas of procurement that need to be addressed to better acknowledge landscapes as living things? Our panellists consider how a different approach to procurement might enable better relationships between the client and the contractor – and ultimately benefit the end user.
Bio
Chris Wellbelove is a Director of Blakedown Landscapes, one of the leading landscaping and civil engineering specialists in the UK. With nearly two decades of experience in the industry, he holds a BSc Honours in Business Management and a Masters in Construction Surveying from Reading University.
Chris has extensive expertise in the field of public procurement, successfully securing contracts worth over £20 million annually. He has an in-depth knowledge of the drivers that influence public sector clients and understands the potential challenges that can arise during the procurement process.
Chris is passionate about building strong and collaborative relationships, with both clients and landscape architects, characterised by full transparency and a shared goal of achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
Outside of work, Chris prioritises his young family and values quality time spent with them. He also remains active through cycling and regular gym training.
