Sawscapes Play: Shorefield County Park Case Study
Shorefield Country Park, a prestigious holiday park in Milford on Sea, asked us to design a bespoke play area, which would improve their existing play areas and equipment. With a sea themed area for children up to age 8 already in situ, adjacent to this play area, the new space was to cater for older children whilst not excluding little ones wanting to explore!
Inspired by The Needles, which can be seen from the holiday park, we designed a fully bespoke, large Lighthouse Tower, attached to a climbing structure by a rope net bridge. Standing at almost 4m high, the structure incorporates challenge and risk, whilst meeting BS EN 1176 regulations and specifications. The colour red was chosen to be in-keeping with the famous Isle of Wight landmark.
Accompanied by a Cloud Peak, a new product designed to provide a climbing challenge and two sunken inclusive Trampolines, this section of the playground provides a space for older children to play with friends, whilst allowing younger children to join in, if they wish. We also installed fencing, gates, and safety surfacing to make the area secure and safe for all. Our client chose blue wetpour for under the Lighthouse and two-colour blends of Bound Rubber Mulch for the space surrounding the Cloud Peak and trampolines – an added feature to help enhance imaginative play.
From concept to completion, we worked closely with the team to ensure we created the perfect play space, one that exceeded their expectations – and we succeeded!
